Advice For A Nervous Traveller

  • No wallowing. Being sad is ok but making yourself sad is just… well, sad.
  • Find a positive thought from each hour and each day. It doesn’t have to be big things but keep thinking until you find something that makes you smile. Then tell someone about it and tell them why it made you smile.
  • When you’re nervous about trying something you’ve not done before, remember that your brain sometimes gets stuck in a groove. Everything you love doing was new once. Maybe this is your next favourite thing.
  • If you’re felling sad, picture in your head a perfect place - a room, a house or town, whatever. Just somewhere where you’d be absolutely happy. Then imagine giving the people you love most a tour and tell them about all the little details that make the place perfect for you. When you’ve finished the tour, where you are in real-life may not seem so bad.
  • Finally, remember that others will be having the exact same feelings as you. Keep an eye out for anyone who seems quiet or not themselves and make it your mission to get them to laugh and smile. This will make both of you happier.
